Actually, I think lyrics aren't best part of songs.Tunes capture me firstly, and they are far more important for me.But there are some lyrics that I can't resist. Here are my favourite lyrics:
1-Seasons/Chris Cornell
Sleeping with a full moon blanket
Sand and feathers for my head
Dreams have never been the answer
And dreams have never made my bed
What can I say.He is one of the best male musicians. It's due to both his voice and his lyrics. Most people think that he writes very complicated, vague lyrics.Well, I don't think the same.Who else can write a sentence like "Dreams have never made my bed"?
2-Possibly Maybe/Björk
Since we broke up
I'm using lipstick again
I suck my tongue
In rememberance of you...
There's something quite girlish and tender.Or just björkish...
3-Gloomy Sunday/Sam M. Lewis
Sunday is gloomy
My days are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Simple but still touchy.
4-Intvitation To The Blues/Tom Waits
Mercy mercy, Mr. Percy, there ain't nothing back in Jersey
But a broken-down jalopy of a man I left behind
And the dream that I was chasing, and a battle with booze
And an open invitation to the blues
I love songs which have certain stories. And, Tom Waits is definitely good at story-telling.There are few things more American than Tom Waits (we're talking about a man whose favourite words are bourbon, Jersey and Cuban). And this song has a classical American blues story.God save Tom Waits.
5-Pocketful Of Money/Jens Lekman
Take me some place decent
Where we meet up with your friends
Where the people are pleasent
Where the music never ends
...
I can't say that you're pretty
That would make me a liar
But you turn my legs to spaghetti
And set my heart on fire
Probably the most straightforward lyrics I've ever heard.

Korean Prison Blues
Why I love Kim-Ki-Duk so much?Probably, because of his dialog-lacked art movies. The charachters in his films are so quite that I don't have to catch up with the subtitles.I love watching these weird Korean people.Sometimes, I wonder if South Korea is such a abnormal country. In Breath, Kim-Ki-Duk sends his charachters to the prison.A desperate housewife falls in love with a man who is given the death sentence. They meet at the prison regularly, and the woman decorates the visiting room of the prison considering four seasons and sings songs to him.It sounds so romantic, but actually the film is brutal in many ways.Let's call it "brutally romantic".The movie reminded me of 3-Iron, in a way. There are desperate houswives who are cheating their reckless husbands with weird men in both movies. But I don't think that Breath is a copy of 3-Iron.It has its own soul.Especially, the singing parts were very entertaining.I've sung "Hae Byun Eu Ro Ga Ya"(means "Let's go to the beach", or something like that) -the song which the woman sings in the summer decoration- so often since I watched the movie that my mom and little brother now think that I'm a weirdo -but I'm a creep, I'm a weirdo, what the...uhm sorry-I think my singing old Korean pop songs unsettle them. However, watch the movie and then sing Korean songs and torture your household...
Jay, what did you do dude?
I used to love his Ted-Mosby-inspired hair style...
Frankly, I am a quite 'indie-lover'.For me, Björk is making the perfect pop, Radiohead and Sigur Ros are the greatest rock bands on earth.Tricky is more talented than these bling-bling rappers of the U.S.Musicians like Bat for Lashes or Jens Lekman must have been topping the charts. But sometimes I want some 'light music' in my life.Cliched lyrics with repeating tunes...Jay Sean is one of my guilty pleasures, actually he was.I used to listen him, when I was 14.He is a British R&B singer who is of Indian descent. And, once upon a time, he created nice hits such as "Eyes On You", "Stolen" and "Dance With You", blending R&B with Indian elements (these Bollywood-style-sirenish-sounds).Maybe when you listen his debut album Me Against Myself at present, you can easily suppose that it's the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire. But then it sounded cool. And now he's trying his chance in America with his recent single "Down".Of course, all Indian elements in his music flew away.It looks like he thinks that standard U.S. R&B is cooler. What a pity!I just wish he kept it local.Or as Eugene Hütz said "Think locally, fuck globally".

My Obsession with Scandinavia
Eww, yes i miss Finland.Actually, I miss the Scandinavian atmosphere.I have an obsession about Scandinavia, that's for sure.Everything comes from Scandinavian countries easily take my attention.I think it all started with my discovery of Norwegian literature, especially Ingvar Ambjörnsen, my favourite author. And, of course, music of Scandinavia.A-Ha, Kings of Convenience, Röyksopp, ABBA, Jens Lekman, Annbjörg Lien, Värttinä, Hedningarna, Väsen and many others.I miss Scandinavia like the dessert miss the rain! How poetic...Next year: Norway!
Finnish Humor at its Best!
I took it this summer, in a youth center in Helsinki. When I first saw it i thought that i was in Turkey, just for a second. It's so Turkish!I mean making Johnsons made out of gums...I love Finnish people.Everybody says that they're extremely cold and they have no sense of humor. But look at this! It's something you can't pass over.I think thay HAVE a sense of humor, a good one.
Why am i writing this blog in English?
Firstly, i tried to write in Turkish, my mother tongue. But then i saw that it was a disaster.I can't help myself making awful jokes when i write in Turkish. So i decided to continue in English.Believe me, it's safer for the humanity!I can't go 'so' bananas in English.Because my English isn't so good.By the way, sorry for my broken English. It's a classical apology of non-native English speakers to the English speaking world. So i had to do this...
A Tribute To Shane Hurlbut...
I'm starting this blog honouring this great man, Shane Hurlbut. He is a cinematographer. He's also one of the victims of cinema industry. He was assaulted by Christian 'fuckin' Bale severely. All began as i listened spectacular 'Bale Out'.It's undoubtedly one of the most entertaining remixes of the music history, congrats to RevoLucian. After a while, i wondered the muse after this great song. And it was Shane Hurlbut.Actually , his filmography is full of trash (for my taste), but he worked on music videos for bands like Nirvana and the Rolling Stones.I admire this.I also admire that he abode Christian Bale. And i dedicate this blog to him, to Shane Hurlbut. He has a Dude inside.Shane abides. We love you Shane!
